ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE AT NORTHERN BALLET STUDIOS
Every dancer can achieve excellence through thought, creativity, practiced skill and physical awareness. Instruction is individualised, but all students at Northern Ballet Studios, located in Pymble, strive to achieve excellence to the best of their abilities at all times in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.
It’s now 21 years since the commencement of Northern Ballet Studios and it continues to offer classes in ballet, pointe, lyrical/contemporary, stretch and jazz for all ages beginning from 3 years of age. Students learn to apply graceful movements and develop an understanding of dance technique.
Creativity is developed through choreography and improvisation. Stamina is built while keeping healthy and fit, and most importantly, children learn to express dance with feeling and heart through the inspiration of movement.
Students can participate in the Certificate I – V in Dance which encompasses academic teaching in anatomy, safe dance and dance history. The certificate is recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Weekly classes are offered with a focus on encouragement and participation. Additionally, students are offered the opportunity to excel in assessments, eisteddfod competitions, and in extension classes. The school is accredited through Australian Dance institute (ADi).
An annual concert is held every year allowing students to build self confidence and stage presence. Northern Ballet Studios also provides the community with dance entertainment and performances at local church gatherings and opportunities to participate in extension classes and dance competitions.
21 years on, the principal of Northern Ballet Studios, Peta Davidson (formerly of The Australian Ballet Company) continues to pass on her knowledge and experience from the very young through to the advanced student. She quotes, “Watching children develop a love for dance is the greatest reward for me.” I believe my students have achieved excellent results as a result of the gentle expectations and encouragement that is part of the teaching philosophy of the school.
